2018 YLC Policy Process

The Young Liberals of Canada are very proud to announce our the 2018 YLC Policy Process! The most open and accessible policy process we’ve ever conducted, it will give all Young Liberals the chance to present and promote your ideas for a better Canada.

1 – Write Your Policy

Think of your best ideas to help build a better Canada, and then write them down! If you’re not sure how to write a good policy, check out our helpful guide and sample policy.

2 – Submit Your Policy

Once you’ve written your policy, submit it to us!  Submission is quick and easy, just scroll down. The deadline to submit is November 13, 2017 at 11:59PM EST. Each registered Young Liberal, Campus Club, and Provincial-Territorial Board may submit one policy. If you are a registered member of a Campus Club and/or Provincial-Territorial Board that submits a policy, you may still submit a policy as an individual.

3 – Vote for Your Policy

The YLC executive and our policy working groups will review all submitted policies, then put them to a nationwide vote. This vote will be held on the YLC website from November 8, 2017 to November 14, 2017. The policy that receives the most votes in each category will move forward. The five categories are Education and Social Development, Environment and Climate Change, Indigenous Reconciliation, Economy, Gender and LGBTQ2+. Each subject was chosen through the 2017 Young Liberals Policy Survey.

4 – Bring Your Policy to Halifax

Following the vote, the top five policies will advance to the Liberal Convention next April in Halifax! The YLC executive will work with members and clubs to help promote build support for these policies in the lead up to the convention. Once there, all Young Liberals will push for their adoption by the party as a whole.
